Re: vegan?
Sun, September 4, 2005 - 3:12 PMwhiskey isn't vegan? damn! i've been a poseur this whole time!! what about rum and gin?
any way, it turns out that most organic farms also use fish meal in the soil so apparently a dietary vegan is not a vegan at all. my boyfriend works on an organic farm.
but i really don't care THAT much about puritanism. generally if the ingredients don't say milk whey casein gelatin eggs and stuff i don't buy them. as far as whiskey goes i'm not too caring about bone charcoal filters, or that my dark chocolate was made in the same vat as the milk chocolate.
maybe some day i'll give up chocolate and only drink my friend's homebrew, but it is impossible to be totally vegan. to be as vegan as i am is still making a big difference- or so i'm led to believe.
p.s. i also think that vegetarians count for some thing y'know. -

Re: vegan?
Sun, September 4, 2005 - 8:32 PMI don't disrespect any measure someone does. No one can be pure - you just do the best you can and try to do better.
If someone is trying, my hat is off to them. If someone is judging others to make themselves look like the better person - that is a kind of violence too...
I avoid anything I can that is the product of a kill, but there are limits to how far I can take it. I go for the 98% and realize that at a certain point you have to say enough, I can spend my energy in other ways that are even more helpful...

Re: vegan?
Tue, September 6, 2005 - 12:28 PMune petite vegan here!
why? cause kweer vegan boys kick ass (as is named my little tribe)
i don't care if whisky is filtered through bone char, beer and wine is cleared with isinglas - alcohol is freaking delicious. I may not be perfect when it comes to veganism, but I try hard enough to make it count.
As Marget Cho says - DONT FUCK WITH VEGANS

Re: vegan?
Tue, September 6, 2005 - 1:47 PM...and Margaret Cho also says:
I love Karl Lagerfeld and they (PETA) hate him. . . . They protested his last show. People were chanting, "Karl Lagerfeld is a murderer! Karl Lagerfeld is a murderer!" And I thought, wouldn't it be fabulous if Karl Lagerfeld actually was a murderer? Like what if he just fucking lost it one day, backstage at his show in Milan, and bludgeoned Elsa Klensch to death with a platform shoe. "I hate that blouse!" He would have to go to jail, and they would make him wear the orange jumpsuit.
I love Margaret Cho. -

Re: vegan?
Sat, September 17, 2005 - 1:02 AMI hate Lagerfied for what he did to the house of Chanel. That was pure, cold blooded murder of a once great fashion line. Can we please start convicting for crimes of fashion? -

Re: vegan?
Mon, September 12, 2005 - 12:35 PMgive me whisky or give me death...
also - beer and wine are often clarified with issinglass (sp?), a liquid extracted from the swim bladders of fish. usually, the cheeper the beer (PBR) the more likely it is to have issinglass in it.
Though, for those cheep vegan drunks, Oly is the way to go. -
